In an introduction that brings high performance capsule technology and market proven reliability to the broadest fixed installation market, AKG today introduced the comprehensive line of 99er microphones. With nine different products in the line that provide nine different applications, the 99ers are a diverse group of microphones that offer a solution for nearly any installed sound application.
The new line – which consists of the CGN99, CHM99, CBL99, CK99 and the DGN99 - incorporates components from classic AKG products such as the capsule of the C542 BL boundary layer microphone and the well-proven acoustical components of the discreet gooseneck range. All of the microphones are equipped with proper RF shielding to meet the high demands of electromagnetic compatibility in everyday installations. The family consists of nine microphones for nearly any typical installed sound application, including: conferencing, paging, surveillance, on-stage use and recording.

This range is the perfect solution for conferencing systems, lecterns, podiums and altars, too. Also included in the 99er range is the CHM99 hanging microphone on a 10 m twist-free cable. Available in either black or white, the CHM99 is an ideal microphone for teleconferencing applications, theaters, or as a choir microphone in a house of worship.

Vienna State Opera’s Sound Designer Selects A Complete AKG Package To Provide Sophisticated Audio Transmissions For The Vienna Opernball
Vienna’s Opera Ball is widely considered to be one of Europe’s largest and most elegant social functions, and frequently attracts some of the world’s most accomplished musicians, politicians and celebrities. For the event, Fritz selected a 20-channel WMS4500 high end wireless system with 19 bodypacks and one handheld microphone, an HC577 headworn microphone with a unique CK77 capsule for the actors, two PT4500 with a CK77 microphone for a moveable piano, and one C414 and C391 microphone each used for the orchestra.
“After comparing the system’s requirements to our options for microphones, it was clear that AKG would be the perfect fit,” stated Fritz, sound designer for the Vienna State Opera, Bregenzer Festival, Mörbischer Festival and other classical events. “I use AKG equipment in every event where clarity, versatility, and precision are essential. This year’s ball was held in the auditorium of the Vienna State Opera House. AKG’s Architectural Microphone Series (AMS) Online Configuration Tool Enables Quick And Easy Customization From Home
In an introduction that couples the versatility of its customizable Architectural Microphone Series with an unparalleled level of convenience, AKG is making its AMS Online Configuration Tool live at the beginning of May 2010. The new tool effectively streamlines the customization process for users seeking to personalize their AMS microphones, and will allow for online selection of over 6,840 customizable settings with an easy to use, interactive website.
The website allows for users to customize their microphones based on seven different variables: capsule design, polar pattern, gooseneck length, connector style, printing, color, and accessories. With the click of a button, users will be able to select from five different capsule designs, including a signal, tech, turrent, flow or cross design. There is an option for hypercariod, cardiod, and omnidirectional polar patterns, and an option for connection preference, based on the most common use of the microphone.
“The new AMS Online Configuration Tool allows users to design their own microphones from the comfort of their home with ease,” commented Mario Siokola, Product Manager for the AMS Online Configuration Tool. “Not only can they choose from a wide range of performance options, but they can also customize the microphone’s appearance to ensure that each microphone fits their needs, no matter what the setting is.”
In addition to the functional settings, there are also a number of pages on the website where users can adjust the aesthetic qualities of the microphone. There is an option to adjust the neck length from 15 cm to 30 cm to 50 cm, change the color or finish, and even decide what’s printed as a logo. Finally, after the functions and appearance of the microphones are set, users can choose to add a number of different accessories, including: different types of mounting clips, a stand adapter, a screw set, and a windscreen for greater capsule protection.

AKG’s New iPhone App Delivers Freedom, Flexibility and Functionality For Mobile Monitoring Of Wireless Microphone and IEM Systems
The new application can be used to monitor wireless system parameters and radio frequency connections on stage for some of AKG’s most popular wireless microphone systems, including the DMS 700, the WMS 4000/4500, and the IVM 4 in ear monitoring system. The user can easily browse through the entire wireless system within the device list, monitor each device and it’s parameters separately within the stripe view, or use the RF monitor for checking the radio frequency connection of each wireless device.
“With the introduction of our new iPhone application, AKG has continued to build on the industry-leading versatility offered with our wireless microphone and IEM systems,” said Philipp Sonnleitner, product manager for HiQnet and system integration. “AKG users now have the ability to control and monitor every aspect of their wireless systems from the palm of their hands anywhere on the venue.”

AKG Microphones Rock The Music World In 2009
With the WMS 4500 wireless microphone system, Jay-Z performed in a variety of different venues; from small house of blues venues to heavily populated frequency areas for television events seen by millions. Using a handheld C 5900, he was able to keep a full mix without sacrificing any of the clarity necessary for his speedy rap style.
Missy Elliot selected the D 5 handheld microphone for many of the same reasons when she performed live on David Letterman’s Late Show. The laminated Varimotion diaphragm that comes standard on all D 5 microphones gave her the most sensitive transmission available and allowed her to concentrate on her raps without worrying about unanticipated feedback.
“This has been a great year for AKG,” said Alfred Reinprecht, AKG’s Vice President of Marketing and Product Management. “We have worked closely with artists and audio engineers to ensure that our products meet and exceed expectations for everyone who uses them. Starting at the beginning of the year, West used the WMS 4500 wireless system and IVM 4 in-ear monitoring system in 40 cities and six continents around the world. Darcy Khan, audio engineer for West’s tour, selected the WMS 4500 for the clean RF transmission and ease-of-use; saving the presets for each city in separate folders on his computer to open upon arrival.
“This feature was a tremendous time saver on the road as it allows me to easily access the file and have all of the saved settings at my fingertips,” Khan said.
The global endorsement of AKG came in response to a series of groundbreaking introductions that included the DMS 700 Digital Wireless system, the C 414 XLS, and the C 414 XL II. Also introduced in the second half of 2009 was AKG’s Perception 120 USB: a microphone that can be easily used to record audio from the desktop and plugged into the computer.

AKG’s Microphone Technology Takes Vienna’s Golden Hall To New Levels
For the finest and most beautiful concert hall in the world, only the best will do, which is why Vienna’s Großer Musikvereinssaal has developed an assortment of AKG microphones to provide unmatched sound quality. The Großer Musikvereinssaal, known to many as the Golden Hall, is home to Vienna’s Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra’s famed annual New Year’s Day Concert. With a worldwide television audience tuning in every New Year’s Day since 1959, the world-renowned architectural acoustics needed more; they needed a fully stocked sound system complete with AKG C 12 VR’s, K 702’s and WMS 400 wireless system. 
The Golden Hall is more than just a concert venue; it also hosts numerous lectures and public readings. Because it handles so many types of public events, there is a need for a high-quality sound system that is met with four channels of the AKG WMS 400 wireless system. A mobile lectern has been equipped with a CK 33 capsule on a modified GN 50 gooseneck that can also be connected to a bodypack transmitter to eliminate unnecessary extra microphone cables, which allows for optimal sound as well as good space conservation. All of the microphones are controlled by an AKG AS 8 automatic mixer and monitored by AKG headphones using the K 207 reference.
“The Golden Hall is simply the finest and most beautiful concert hall in the world,” said Alfred Reinprecht, AKG’s Vice President of Marketing and Product Management. “The acoustics are impeccable, the sound system is extraordinary, and the venue is designed beautifully. I couldn’t imagine a better musical experience.”
Much of the musical experience at the Golden Hall can be attributed to the design of the building itself. A hollow space under the wooden floor creates a resonant background; the ceiling, which is made of wood, is hung from the rafters and gives the sound in the hall extra dimensions; and the ceilings, balconies, and caryatids provide ideal propagation of sound waves. Since the first concert was held on January 6, 1870, the Golden Hall has represented the finest in acoustics, garnering praise from architects, musicians, and fans from all over the world.
“The acoustics of the building are already unbeatable,” continued Reinprecht. “But when you add the sound system that is in place, it provides an up-front sound that is simply beyond words.”
The C 414 stereos are selected by AKG’s sophisticated computer-aided matching method, which results in the highest possible correlation over the whole frequency range and virtually identical sensitivity for stunning, three-dimensional recordings. Other AKG equipment used in this project include the C 414 B XLS/ST, the C 414 B XLII/ST, the SR 400, and the GN 50, among others.

AKG Introduces Redesigned C 3000 Condenser Microphone For both Studio and Onstage Applications
AKG announced the release of the redesigned C 3000 condenser microphone, suitable for every recording or live application. The cost-effective and aesthetically pleasing C 3000 microphone from AKG has been proven as a trusty and reliable workhorse for more that 15 years. AKG Reincarnates A Legend With The Introduction Of The C 747 V11 Microphone
Bringing new life to the classic C 747 microphone, AKG has redesigned the “pencil microphone” to better cope with specific installed sound issues, AKG announced. The updated C 747 V11 brings a new form of premium microphone quality to conference applications and maintains its predecessor’s reputation as one of the most versatile microphones in the AKG product range.
The versatility of the C 747 is apparent as the mic is capable of handling a range of instruments and positions, including overhead positioning for its brilliant sound reproduction and its unobtrusive optical appearance and is also included in numerous broadcast stations, recording studios, theaters, opera houses, churches, conference rooms and lecture halls.
