Soundcraft Vi6™ Selected By ESP New York To Provide Sound Reinforcement For The Veteran’s Day Celebration On The USS Intrepid

President Bush Addresses Nation And Accepts The Intrepid Freedom Award

Showcasing the versatility of Soundcraft’s Vi6™ digital mixing console, integrators ESP New York and Wizard Studios recently deployed a Vi6 for the Veteran’s Day Celebration on the USS Intrepid. As one of ESP New York’s most challenging productions, the Vi6 was chosen for its wide range of capabilities and the flexibility required for this unique event.

The Vi6 was used to simultaneously broadcast the live feed while maintaining 32 inputs from the celebration that provided countless obstacles. Commenting on the production is ESP New York Audio Engineer, Glenn Davis, who provided audio support for the event. “The Veteran’s Day celebration was a tremendous opportunity to showcase the capabilities of the Vi6 on a worldwide scale,” Davis stated. “A lot of technical requirements from the White House required us to pre-program a majority of the presets, however there were a few vocal obstacles that required us to subgroup vocalist and insert graphic and sound via the console on the fly.”

The Vistonics provided ESP New York engineers with a very intuitive interface that is conducive for live sound events. Stephen Swope, Systems Technician and Keith Williams, A2, had the ability to choose from eight input channels for the event, with 16 rotary encoders and 16 switches per touch screen. All channel functions, including routing, input gain, digital gain trim, delay, high and low-pass filters are easily and quickly accessible for any circumstance. “The ability to control the board without a user guide and at the touch of a finger provides us with the flexibility needed to excel at an event of this magnitude,” Davis concludes.

President Bush addressed the Nation and was awarded the Intrepid Freedom Award at the celebration that honored the Veterans of America and the grand reopening of the USS Intrepid museum in New York City. World-renowned tenor, Ronan Tynan, performed “God Bless America” to the 5,000 guests and 2,500 veterans that gathered to celebrate the Veterans Day event, including New York Governor David Paterson and First Lady Laura Bush.
